You must bear in mind that the skin’s condition changes frequently. There are times in which our dermis looks better than others. The main causes being the following:

  • The season: In cold seasons the skin is drier and in warm seasons it’s oilier.
  • Hormones: Examples:
    • Oil glands get stimulated when hormones become active during puberty and
menstrual cycle. This is why teenagers are likely to get acne or oily
      complexion.
    • After menopause, estrogen levels decrease, so the skin becomes drier and more sensitive.
    • During pregnancy, blemishes may appear.
  • Ageing:  it is no secret; over the years the skin becomes thinner and drier causing wrinkles to appear.
